Out with the old in with the classic, 2017 has kicked off to great start.Quack Nation had the courtesy of sitting down with a very profound Brooklyn native, known for his unique style, Pythagoras. We took some time to get to pick Pythagoras brain on fashion, family and growing up in Brooklyn. Check out his words…
D: Along with your unique style you have a unique name. what's the meaning behind it.
P: My name originates from the Pythagorean theorem, Pythagoras. My dad is a math professor and an engineer.
D: What was the best part about growing up in Brooklyn?
P: The west Indian culture, Hip hop in the 90s, the food, Biggie jay-z, knowing that wherever I go around the world people know brooklyn.
D: What about your personal style? What do you gravitate toward for your everyday outfit?
P:I love hats, so I choose a hat depending on how I feel, baseball caps, snapback, flat cap, fedoras, skullies you name it, it's a mood thing.. Bandanas also.. they help add an extra thing to my outfits daily.
D: How do you feel about the state of fashion? And what would you change about it?
P: Fashion is art, it's perspective inspired by those who came before so it will forever live. I think it's in a good space although that space is not for me. I'd say I'm more of a style guy..I like great pieces instead of buying high brand names, I'm more for the longevity.
I'd get rid of the skirts and kilts.
D: Who are your favorite designers?
P: Ralph Lauren (fell in love with RRL), Barbour, Freemans good, some J-Crew, Brooks Brothers, Paul Stuart, Flamekeepers hat club, Brooklyn circus.
D: If you could choose a celebrity closet to shop in?
P: Kanye's old closet.
D: Is there an item in your closet that we'd be shocked to find?
P: Yes there are many Haha I can't even go into it.
D: Name 5 fashion or grooming must-haves for the winter season.
P: You must have a vest from RRL, a good heavy wool or cotton shirt, a nice leather brown boot, an everyday pair of jeans (blue faded), and a nice felt fedora.
For grooming.. if you have a beard check out @babeofBrooklyn
D: What's next for you? What can we look forward to seeing from you in the future?
P: Let's see what's next, I'll be working with some of my partners this year doing shoots etc. Doing a lot of public speaking events, starting a group called Mlezi (stands for guardian) with 3 of my brothers whose goal is to positively impact men, women and children by creating experiences that help combat the social, economic and political issues that afflict communities of color. Also plan to put out my first Poetry book this year.
